Crete offers the investor much more attractive options than other oversubscribed and overdeveloped areas in Europe. The current situation also makes this the perfect time to acquire land on the island through Cretan Life.
The market in Crete is still in the relatively early stages of development, unlike other places such as Spain or Portugal. Which means, of course, that prices are attractively low and the potential returns high.
As an EU member, Crete is economically and politically stable. This makes it a safer proposition than some of the former Eastern Bloc countries.
There are stringent planning and building laws to reassure and protect the investor wishing to buy land for development.
Crete is the closest European destination for Autumn and Spring sun, an increasingly important factor in the holiday and leisure markets.
-
Less expensive than the UK on the properties and in general

Greeks are friendlier and more hospitable than any other Southern European country. That’s why foreigners / tourists that come to Greece in general fall in love with the country and they are coming back. Also, “filoxenia” (friend of a foreigner) is a Greek word and there is no translation of that word in any other language.
-
Crete is about 20-25 years behind Spain and Portugal and about 15 years behind Cyprus in terms of development and property prices. It is still at the beginning comparing to what has happened in all the “costas” in Spain and offers a brilliant investment opportunity to all property investors.
-
People from all over the world are buying properties and invest money in Crete in the past few years and they see Crete as being the new Cyprus.
-
Crete has got the size and population of Cyprus and the Cretans have more or less the same traditions and hobbies as the Cypriots but Crete is a lot more beautiful island than Cyprus and lot cheaper too.
-
More politically stable than all the Eastern European countries that people invest their money to as well as much more economical and politically stable than the cheaper property markets of Turkey and the occupied areas of Cyprus (“Northern Cyprus”), which is not classified nor as a country neither as a nation and the only governments recognizing it at the moment is Turkey, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
-
Comparing to the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” here in Crete all properties was bought or inherited by people and not gifted from an illegal government who stole everything from the original and legal owners. If one bought something there now, s/he will not be the only one to have a contract of that as the land or house will still belong to the Greek-Cypriots that owned it from the beginning. The Turkish Government has to pay at the moment millions of euros to Greek-Cypriots who sued Turkey at the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. Otherwise, the foreigners who are illegally staying in those houses will loose the properties they bought without getting any money back.
-
Greece is an EU member unlike other Mediterranean and Southern European countries that seem to attract property investors (i.e. Turkey, Croatia, Egypt, Morocco etc)
-
Cretans are supposed to be the friendliest amongst all the Greeks. They are definitely the most proud because of their history (don’t forget that civilization started from Minoans from Crete) and they would do everything to make a tourist love the island in order to come back again.
-
Very beautiful island with a big variety of landscape and views. Every village is different from each other
-

According to the Greek newspaper individual investors will spend 4 billion euros on 10 Greek airports to privately own the airports. Amongst those 10 airports Chania and Heraklion airport are included.
-
Good medical facilities – Heraklion has got the best University Hospital in Greece and the hospital of Chania is classified amongst the best of all the Greek islands.
-
Largest island in Greece – lively in both winter and summer. More economical stable and independent than any other Greek island as the Cretans produce everything themselves.
